Nearly 2,000 Years of Steam and Splendour
Built around a natural hot spring almost two millennia ago, the Roman Baths remain one of the best-preserved Roman religious spas anywhere in the world. Walk the same stone pavements Roman bathers once did, gaze into the strange green-gold waters of the Great Bath, and step through a city that later gave its very name — Bath — to the practice itself. The honey-coloured Georgian city surrounding the baths, all elegant crescents and grand terraces, is a beautiful bonus on top.

The Great Bath
Still fed by the same natural hot spring the Romans used, the lead-lined Great Bath is the site's centrepiece — steam rising off the water just as it did nearly two thousand years ago.
→
The Sacred Spring
Over a million litres of naturally hot water rise here every single day, just as they have for thousands of years — the Romans believed it was a gift from the goddess Sulis Minerva.

Georgian Bath
Above the Roman remains sits an entire honey-stone Georgian city — the Baths gave Bath its name, and its fame, for centuries after the Romans left.
