Galway

Quay Street, Galway
Free Time · Galway City
Ireland's Most Bohemian City
Colourful, creative, and endlessly good-humoured, Galway is often called the cultural heart of Ireland — a city of buskers, trad sessions spilling out of pub doorways, and streets so full of character you'll want to linger far longer than we have time for. Here's how to make the most of your free time:
🏖️
Quay Street & the Latin Quarter
Galway's liveliest street — cobbled, colourful, and lined with pubs, buskers, and cafés. The perfect spot for a relaxed lunch.
🏆
The Spanish Arch
A 16th-century remnant of the old city walls, right where the River Corrib meets Galway Bay — a lovely spot for a photo or a riverside stroll.
⛪
Galway Cathedral
One of the youngest and most striking cathedrals in Europe, sitting right on the banks of the Corrib — well worth a quick look inside.
🍔
Fresh Seafood
Galway is famous for its seafood — grab some fresh Galway Bay oysters or a proper bowl of chowder for lunch.

Bunratty Castle & Folk Park

Bunratty Castle, County Clare
Optional · Bunratty, County Clare
Ireland's Most Complete Medieval Castle
This is one you'll want to say yes to. Bunratty Castle is the most authentically restored and completely furnished medieval castle in all of Ireland, dating back to 1425 — climb its spiral stone staircases, wander the Great Hall, and step out onto the battlements for sweeping views over the Shannon estuary. Around it, the 26-acre Folk Park recreates 19th-century Irish village life with real thatched cottages, farmhouses, and a working village street.
🛉
Your guide today: Ken. We're joined by our own private local guide, Ken — savvy, sharp, and packed with stories and knowledge about the castle, the folk park, and Irish history that you simply won't get wandering around on your own. He makes this visit.

Optional Experience · 17:15

Durty Nelly's

Durty Nelly's pub, Bunratty
Optional · Bunratty, County Clare
400 Years of Craic, Right by the Castle
Founded in 1620, Durty Nelly's is one of Ireland's oldest and most famous pubs — a rambling, low-ceilinged warren of snugs and open fires sitting right at the foot of Bunratty Castle. It's the kind of place where the walls themselves seem to hold four centuries of stories. We'll enjoy dinner here in properly atmospheric surroundings, with the castle lit up just outside the window.
